Banksy created the Mariachi Player mural on a tour of Mexico in 2001. Banksy's Mariachi Player mural will highlight a sale of street art at Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills on June 26 with a $150,000-200,000 estimate. The work was created in 2001 while the artist was on tour in Mexico with Bristol, UK-based amateur football team the Easton Cowboys. The piece is one of a number of murals he painted in Mexico, many of which contain messages of support for the Zapatistas - a radical left wing group that fights for a range of issues, including the return of land to indigenous peoples. Other lots include Anarchy Rat, which was painted in a Berlin graveyard in the early 2000s and carries an estimate of $50,000-70,000.
